Red Dawn - Never Say Surrender (1994)

The amount of songs on here from the 90s are most likely far and few between, Occassionally I come across a song that from the 90s that breaks the mold of the decade. Check this one out from Red Dawn, and band outta Jersey.

This is amazing. Overlooked possibly because it was a little late to the game. If this came out 2 or 3 years earlier, we wpould have heard this. THis Synth-Pop is full of hooks and along with a catchy melody.

Night Flight - Growing Up (1984)

This one I stumbled across and I don't have too much info on it. It's a Synth Pop song that has the same musical qualities as artist like Haircut One Hundred, Talk Talk and Kajagoogoo.

You have to appreciate the incredbile bass and vocal harmonies. I can almost asure not many people have herad this.

Le Roux - Long Distance Lover (1982)

From the state of Louisiana, comes a smooth rock song from a band named; Le Roux.

It's a melodic song that should have warranted airplay. Maybe it did... but I never heard it. In the same musical vein as The Little River Band and The Atlantic Rhythm Section,

It's great to still discover great Heavy Metal music with the wailing vocals. I love that shit! When I heard this I instantly had to listen to every track on the album. STELLAR! SO if you like that 80s Heavy Metal with the over the top vocals, you will love this!

Berlin - Metro (1983)

Terri Nunn! What a voice! I remember the early days of Mtv when this video was in heavy rotation. I think I actually first saw this on USA's Night Flight. I loved the european feel of the synth sound only later to find out Terri and company were from California. I have had the pleasure of meeting her and she is quite lovely.

How this flew under the radar, I'll never know. Perhaps 1986 wasn't a good year of UK imports. This songs has hooks, and was well produced and awesome vocals. Three are times where is a little rough and could have went back to the studio, but this is such a great song.

This song exploded when it first hit the video rotation. It may even got played a little too much. Popularity can drive people away faster than it lures them in. Marilyn does have a few others that are worthy of a listen, but this one is her claim to fame.

Have you ever heard a song, enjoyed but never got the name. And then never think about again until you hear it? This is one of them for me. I remember hearings this and never took note who it was or the name of the song. Squeeze has a lot of good songs out there. If I was on name that tune, going for all the money, and the genre was 80s. I would have easily risked it all, and if this song came on, I would have lost. It has now been indexed in musical memory.

The Vapors - Sixty Second Interval (1980)

I cannot stress this enough, this is one of THE best Power Pop album I have ever heard. Their hit, The song "Turning Japanese" is the worst song on the album. I had the please of meeting her one afternoon prior to her performance, Quite a lovely person. Here is one of her best!

This was recently discovered and fits either none or several genres. It has that 80s feel, but not full of synths. It's like a mix of Spandau Ballet, ABC and The Fixx. It's not Power Pop, ...just going with Pop. I think you will enjoy this one. It's light, airy and hypnotizing. Never heard of the band or this song before today. I recommended this one as a must hear.

I wish I wasn't so dismissive on all music that wasn't 'Rock' back when I went to see Milwaukee local bands. There were so many excellent bands that I never gave the chance. Colur Radio is one of them. With Hard Rock and Heavy Metal making a big impact, it filled my need for music and left nearly no room for other genres. My error in my prejedicial mindset. I regress... Something from my hometown! Having an affinity for various artist collections, this one depicts the reason why.
