Le Roux - Addicted (1982)

This song was a casualty of timing—drowned out by the tidal wave of New Wave that dominated 1982. MTV, still in its infancy, had already become a gatekeeper of musical taste, driven more by visual appeal than sonic depth. Record labels jockeyed for airtime, flooding the channel with flashy imports from Europe and Australia, where music videos were already standard marketing tools. In this crowded landscape, artists like Le Roux slipped through the cracks—not because the music lacked quality, but because it didn’t fit the emerging visual spectacle that MTV’s audience craved.”

Night Ranger - Rumours In The Air (1983)

Every once in a while there is a magical song that transcends time and causes your mental faculties to heighten. This is one that does this for me  What an excellent song from an excellent album! This is my favorite Night Ranger song, followed very closely by Touch Of Madness. The arrangement and hooks were so very well crafted and a masterful production.

This Is - Aslan (1986)

Oh my...This is incredible...Just heard it today for the first time. It's mesmerizing, it's haunting, it's brilliant. It's a soft song, it reminds a bit of crowded house. The emotion and the vocal rawness adds to the impact that this song makes. I have no idea why this didn't blow up when it first hit the airwave. Most likely buried underneath the relentless musical releases in 1986. This is why I am doing thig blog. The find songs like this. I don't even know what genre to assign to this...

Living In Fiction - Fast Forward (1984)

Woah!...Newly founded today and it's fantastic!! Well produced, deeply layered, killer guitars, and melodic vocals. Almost progressive without being progressive, sounds like a power pop version of Yes. Truly amazing, I will need to listen to this entire release. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The March Of The Black Queen - Queen (1974)

Anyone that knows me will tell you that Queen is my favorite band of all time. The well crafted melodies accompanied by masterful lyrics, with the vocal prowess of Freddie Mercury and the iconic sound of Briam May's guitar. I was fortunate to see Freddie perfrom during the game tour, from the 7th row. incredible!!! It was right on the edge of the Live Killers release and the spectacle was everything you think it would be. This was one of my favorites from their second album, I believe it's the similiarity of "Hall Of The Mountain Kings" chord progression that make this stand out.

al′ter e′go - Shannon (1985)

Just discovered this one today! So when this tunes started it had a faint rhythm of a Two-Tone. As it progressed, it became Power Pop and then it was just pure rock enjoyment. Reminds me a little of The Producers, just not as polished, lacking the production quaality, but nonetheless a great song!

Something So Strong - Crowded House (1987)

I listen to alot of different kinds of music and I like what I like. A catchy lyric, a certain chord progression or a brilliant harmony catches my ear. This songs has all three. When this came out, it was in the middle of the 80s hair metal and hard rock sensation, so I initial ignored this. This song is qute simple and quite brilliant, both of what I find appealing.

I remember this band had a member, maybe two from a band I enjoyed in the early 80s, Split Enz. This is a more mature and mainstream, but still enjoyable
